Easy Passage


Promising Kilano Brathwaite had the distinction of recording the first ton in this year’s Inspire Sports/NSC Under-13 cricket competition in the opening series on Sunday.

The left-handed batsman from three-time champions Fusionz Boutique Passage smashed an attacking unbeaten 166, laced with 27 boundaries and a six. Limar Pierce of Dover who hit 169 last year, holds the record for the highest individual score in the tournament which began in 2009.

Passage United compiled 282 for two from 22 overs, against Al Falah Juniors at Passage Road, in a match affected by rain at the start. In reply, Al Falah Juniors were bundled out for 56 to go under by 225 runs.

At Beckles Road, off-spinner Jacobi Gooding picked up seven for 29, to bowl TeleBarbados Carlton Juniors to a 59-run win over YMPC Juniors. YMPC Juniors were dismissed for 158 needing 218. Earlier, Kevon Connell made a valuable 63 in Carlton Junior’s 217 for seven from their allotted 35 overs.

Off-spinner Nimar Jones captured six for 17, as Banks Juniors had an easy 81- run victory over newcomers Empire Juniors at Bank Hall. Chasing 224, Empire Juniors were bowled out for 142, despite a fighting 61 from Zion Judah-Hill.

Over at Dover, defending champions Dover Juniors made light work of Mark’s Auto Spares Young Blazers by eight wickets. Batting first, the visitors were all out for 53 from 21.1 overs and Dovers Juniors responded with 54 for two in 8.2 overs.
