Brathwaite scores ton in trial
West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite hit an unbeaten century as Omar Phillips’ XI reached 334 for seven off 90 overs after winning the toss against Kirk Edwards’ XI at the close of play on the opening day of the two-day Barbados trial match at Queen’s Park today.
Brathwaite was on 145 not out in 343 minutes off 235 balls with 15 fours. His century came in 274 minutes off 172 balls with 11 fours.
Kyle Hope made 75 off 88 balls with 12 fours and one six before he was caught and bowled by leg-spinner Shadd Simmons, who grabbed five wickets for 80 runs off 25 overs.
Brathwaite and Hope added 123 in 27 overs for the second wicket.
Wicket-keeper Mario Rampersaud scored 54 off 139 balls with four boundaries.
The other batsmen dismissed were Phillips (six), Anthony Alleyne (37 off 31 balls, 5 fours), Kenroy Williams (three), Antonio Greenidge (nought) and Christopher Jordan (three).
