Top class Mercedes soon here
Barbadians will soon welcome a new compact luxury vehicle when Simpson Motors introduces the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class this month.†
Brand Manager, Penny Johnson, explained that the new A-Class has already created a stir internationally.
“The sporty, fresh design of this new model is already a sensation across Europe, in part because it is a remarkable departure from the previous model and specifically because of its appeal to the young and young-at-heart,” she said.†
Johnson added that the new A-Class is the most compact model from Mercedes-Benz to date and has already claimed a number of awards for its design and safety.
“It was recently awarded the maximum Five-Star rating during the Euro New Car Assessment Programme crash tests,†passing with an amazing 93 percent, highlighting the vehicle’s safety†for both front seat passengers as well as for young children seated in the back.”
She added that the design team has also been making waves.
“Mercedes-Benz design director Gorden Wagener and his staff of around 500 were recently voted Team of the Year by the expert jury of the Automotive Brand Contest.†
“In the same contest, the A-Class took first place in the Interior area of the Concept and Study category.†This award-winning team, with its emphasis on modern style, underscores Mercedes-Benz’s leading role in the field of innovative vehicles design.”
Johnson explained that the vehicle is available in three different models including the Urban, which will arrive on island shortly and features 17-inch light-alloy wheels, a twin-pipe exhaust system, sports seats and a sporty three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
“The A-Class also comes with the latest in Bluetooth technology and a dashboard mounted 5.8′ TFT colour display screen used to view phone functionality, and which can also be used as a parking assistant, thanks to the incorporated reversing camera.”
