Barbadians truly love their ham and one lucky Barbadian has won herself an iPad 3 by demonstrating her love for ham in the Farmer’s Choice Ham it up facebook photo competition.

Winner Fay Murrell’s entry titled “Ham on Fire” shows her losing everything but her treasured Farmer’s Choice ham in a house fire. When queried on the inspiration for her award-winning photo, Murrell replied:

“We wanted to honour ham in the way it deserves to be honoured. It’s more valuable to me than diamonds and gold, so if there was a fire at our house, what would we do? Get the kids out, and you’ve got to save the ham!”

HIPAC Ltd. Sales and Marketing Manager, Mischa Knight, said she pleased with the number of entries received, as well as the quality and creativity participants demonstrated.

“We were thrilled by all of the fantastic photos. We had a panel of five judges, and rated entries on a scale of one to 100. Selecting a winner was not an easy task; the top two entries were separated by only three points!” said Knight.

Brand Manager at Hanschell Inniss Ltd., Richard Smith, also expressed content with the outcome of the competition, and the interest that it generated.

“This is just a sample of the many entries we received,” he said. “They came from a wide cross section of the population, which is really a testament to Farmer’s Choice ham and the brand itself. It is great value and loved by every member of the family. It truly is a Bajan tradition.”

Participants were asked to submit an original photo, which depicted their love for Farmer’s Choice. Carla Gittens was first runner up with an entry titled, “De Pic Story”.

All entries in the Ham it up competition are available for viewing on the Farmer’s Choice facebook page.
