Two new managers
Ansa McAl Barbados Ltd has strengthened its financial management team with the recent appointments of two internationally experienced Caribbean-born managers.
Paul Inniss and Rolf Philips have been recruited and appointed to the posts of general manager of Brydens Insurance and Consolidated Finance respectively, two of the conglomerate’s key financial companies.
Inniss has been in place since December 2012 while Philips joined his team at Consolidated Finance on January 2, 2013. They both bring a wealth of experience at the local, regional and international levels to the organisation.
Inniss, a Barbadian, is a well known insurance executive in both Barbados and the region, having worked in three insurance companies, over a 20 year period, at management level. He recently returned from New York where he worked with JP Morgan Chase as a relationship banker.
He served as a regional manager and built business in a number of Caribbean territories, having led several teams at different times. He decided to leave the region to “sharpen the pencil” and gained his MBA at the Heriot-Watt University in Scotland before heading to New York to acquire skills and international experience in the financial sector there.
Stating that he is excited to be home, he is looking forward to ensuring that Brydens Insurance becomes one of the leading insurance providers in the Barbados market.
His counterpart at Consolidated Finance, Rolf Phillips, who originally hailed from Grenada, is a career banker with extensive experience in regional and international banking; initially with Barclays and subsequently with CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.
During his 30-year banking career he has managed various business segments across the region, including Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia and the Cayman Islands. His last role was the position of Managing Director of Retail Banking at CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank where he was also a member of the senior executive team with overall responsibility for 73 retail branches and four customer service centres in 17 territories as well as the bank’s credit card business. Philips is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the UK.
On joining the Ansa McAl group he said: “I am looking forward to working with the team. The Ansa brand is very strong in Trinidad and Tobago and they have made significant strategic investments to support growth here in Barbados. I am excited to bring my skills and experience to help the group deliver on those growth objectives.”
CEO of Ansa McAl Barbados Ltd, Nicholas Mouttet, noted: “We are happy to have been able to secure the services of these two experienced Caribbean financial professionals. They both bring tremendous value to our group and already they have had some wonderful ideas to take us forward. They are both visionary leaders and I am looking forward to working with them.”
