Spreading Christmas cheer
Christmas is the season of joy and giving: This a mantra that has been repeated and replicated over the years on cards, decorations, mugs — anything represents Christmas.
During the just ended Christmas season a group of young people took it to heart and embraced the true meaning of Christmas.
AromaFresh, a group of young entrepreneurs seeking to spread some Christmas cheer with live Christmas trees, and the Barbados Youth Development Council, partnered to donate a tree to the Children’s Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Their mission was to ensure that the children who otherwise may not have gotten a live tree or any tree at all this year, had a “Merry Little Christmas”.
A statement from those involved in the exercise explained that as the members of the two groups reminisced on their childhood Christmas experiences, “it saddened their hearts that these little angels could not be at home for the holidays and it occurred to them that they may not be feeling very merry”.
“Putting their minds and good hearts together they came up with this idea to bring joy into someone else’s life. This is what the season is about: giving back to those in need,” it added.
Now AromaFresh and the BYDC is asking Barbadians to join them on their mission in 2013 of assisting others.
“Look for someone around you who may be lacking something that you can give and give back out of love,” the young entrepreneurs said.
