Clyde’s biggest cassava
Clyde Walcott from Chapel Land, St. Philip, has been farming for the last 20 years but he has never dug a cassava as big as the one he did yesterday evening.
“I grew cassava and some have come out about three feet long but I’ve never seen anything like this… Never seen any come out this long. I had to get a pickaxe to help dig out that. It tek about roughly 20/25 minutes to dig it out. I cut off the top of the stalk then I started to dig it out with a hoe but then I find out the hoe couldn’t do the job,” he said.
The big cassava weighed 22 pounds and measured 30 inches in girth.
