Broomes and teachers transferred

When the new school term starts on January 7, Principal of Alexandra School and a number of teachers are expected to take up positions at new schools.

Barbados TODAY has learnt that Jeff Broomes and teachers should have received letters today informing them they were being transferred to other schools for the Hilary term.

It is understood that Principal Jeff Broomes is to be reassigned to Parkinson Memorial School, while his counterpart at the Pine, St. Michael institution Orson Alleyne will be heading north.

Questioned about the letter of transfer, Broomes said via telephone that he had not received any correspondence indicating he had been and referred any further questions on this matter or any other to his attorney, Vernon Smith.

Efforts to reach Chief Education Officer Laurie King and Deputy Chief Education Officer (Schools) Karen Best for a comment on the matter were futile.

A secretary at the ministry said King was out of the office and not at his desk, while another informed this newspaper that Best was on leave and would be back in office next week. (DS)
