Hard work pays off
Scout headquarters was alive with activity during the last weekend of October 2012 as a variety of groups met and sought to complete a myriad of activities. In the shade of the old chapel a group of four Ventures were working on their membership training by engaging in a Cook Out.
From the presentation and the responses from those who tasted the meal, these Ventures will be the first ones the Chief Commissioner will called when the Association is having any sponsored lunch.
Across the pasture the Cubs of Hazelwood had a badge presentation ceremony. Fourteen boys stood proudly as their leader called their names and presented sashes and badges. A little higher up in the courtyard, the boys from Bay Scout Group had an investiture and badge presentation ceremony.
Three boys stood proudly as their received their scarves, while five boys were promoted in the group as Assistant Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders and Senior Patrol Leader.
Later in the afternoon the practice for the Independence display began with a bang as boys and leaders of all the sections assembled for the first information gathering session. It is expected that the display will showcase all sections of the Scout Association all as part of this our Centenary Year.
