The unstoppable Miss Big & Beautiful pageant contestants posing with Queen Samantha Grannum.

Relatives, friends and sponsors got the opportunity to hear first hand from this year’s contestants who introduced themselves and thanked their support team for assisting them thus far in the competition.

They all told the appreciative crowd what to expect come October 21st at the Plantation Garden Theatre promising it would be a night filled with beauty, talent and creativity.

Director of the pageant Tonia Husbands welcomed everyone to the evenings while Technical Manager Camar Clarke spoke on behalf of the organisation.

Clarke stated two of the challenges the organisation faced over the years included a lack of sponsorship and the idea that the pageant encouraged unhealthy living. She expressed their continued commitment to the development of the full-figured woman and noted that they had seen advantages for the full figured woman during the pageant’s existence.

The technical director implored each contestant to embrace what the theme stands for and truly become Unstoppable, not letting any challenge, adversity or negativity stop them from achieving their goals.

The reigning queen Samantha Grannum thanked those who supported her throughout her reign and gave an account of the activities which she was involved in with during the past year, namely, the Barbados Learning Centre.

The contestants who will face the judges are: Julia Mascoll, Katrina Blackman, Nahketa Harris, Tracey Collins and Mechelle Reid.
