BYDC empowerment seminar

The Barbados Youth Development Council will host its second financial empowerment seminar entitled Saving for a rainy day: Surviving the economic storm. The September 29 seminar follows the Youth Employment Seminar held in January of 2011 in collaboration with the Commonwealth Youth Programme Caribbean Centre.

During that seminar, participants called for greater education, information and awareness on financial literacy and ways to increase their employability. Saving for a rainy day: surviving the economic storm seeks to meet that request.

Topics will include: Saving and Budgeting by Financial Consultant, Jeremy Stephen; Preparing for the World of Work by Human Resource/Recruitment Manager, Therese Fergusson; and Surviving the economic storm: Coping with unemployment by Clinical Mental Health Psychologist, Patrice Daniel

Guides, rangers and young leaders are invited to participate in the seminar which is targeting young people between the ages of 15-29 years. The seminar will be held this Saturday at the training room of the National Housing Corporation, Warrens, St. Michael, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The seminar is free, however registration is mandatory. To register or for further information please email Erin Corbin-Boyce at
