St. Catherine face Empire in Super Cup quarterfinal

Title holders Republic Bank St. Catherine will clash with ICBL Empire at Bayfield in the quarter-finals of the 2012 BCA Sagicor General Super Cup (50-over-a-side) championship on Sunday.

In the other quarter-finals on the same day, CGI Maple oppose BDFSP at Trents, TeleBarbados Carlton meet Super Centre Spartan at Desmond Haynes Oval and Sagicor Life UWI battle with LIME at the 3Ws Oval.

The Barbados Cricket Association confirmed the quarter-finalists after persistent rain prevented a single ball from being bowled in all of the ninth and final round preliminary matches yesterday.

In a media release, the BCA pointed out that “based on the BCA/Sagicor Super Cup 2012 Regulation 5 (f) the higher placed team in each Zone will be the home team”.

Play starts at 9.30 a.m.

The semi-finals are scheduled for October 7 and the final on October 14. (BCA)
