Scotiabank looking out for small businesses
For the fifth consecutive year, Scotiabank is partnering with the Small Business Association to make Scotiabank Small Business Week 2012 a success by investing over $30,000 towards the week of activities, hosting a small business seminar and providing opportunities for SBA members to promote their products and services in its branches.
Scotiabank Small Business Week starts with a thanksgiving concert on Sunday September 23 at the Jackie Opel Amphitheatre of the General Post Office, and culminates on Saturday September 29 with an awards ceremony and dinner to celebrate the achievements of members, staff and other outstanding contributors to the SME sector.
The theme of this year’s Small Business Week is “Embracing Technology as the New Frontier” and in keeping with this theme, Scotiabank has invited a panel of experts to present on “Utilising Technology to Grow your Business” at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre on September 27 at 6 p.m.
Assistant General Manager of Branch Banking, Jennifer Murray, said: “We have developed a solid partnership with the SBA over the last few years, opening our banking halls every Small Business Week to showcase the products and services of not just SBA members, but most importantly our small business customers… This week gives us the opportunity to show how we as a Bank are tangibly invested in the small business community.”
Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Small Business Association, Lynette Holder, added: “Scotiabank has been on board with us at the SBA for the last four years in their sponsorship of Small Business Week and they’ve done so once again in 2012.
“At a time when small businesses in Barbados are challenged by a plethora of issues, chief among which is financing, it is refreshing to see a banking institution such as Scotiabank introducing to the market, a suite of services to address the financing needs of small firms.
“We at the SBA continue to look to the future not only in terms of small business development in Barbados, but also our relationship with Scotiabank as we continue to build networks and in the process create opportunities and wealth.”
