Hope makes the cut

Talented captain of the Barbados Under-19 team, Shai Hope, has been included in a 15-man national senior side to play in an International Twenty20 competition in Trinidad & Tobago next month, marking the twin-island republic’s 50th anniversary of Independence. Hope scored 405 runs including three centuries at an average of 81.25 in the just concluded regional Under-19 three-day tournament. He has also hit one hundred and a half-century in the ongoing Under-19 limited overs championship.

Four teams – Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – will compete in the September 6-8 tournament.
