'King of the Ring' postponed
The passage of Tropical Storm Isaac through the region might have brought basketball lovers an unanticipated bonus.
Organisers of the “King of the Ring” exhibition game said today that after discussion it was decided to postpone the event for a week. It will now come off at the Wildey Gymnasium on September 1.
Live Wire Entertainment, the organisers of the event, said this evening that after discussions the decision was taken to postpone the event by one week, due to the uncertainty surrounding the passage of the storm.
“We were monitoring the storm very closely from the time Isaac formed as a depression, especially on realising that it was possibly threatening Barbados”, explained Live Wire’s Ingrid Holder.
“Though the system has passed Barbados, we are still experiencing the effects and with Isaac expected to be a hurricane maybe as early as tomorrow, and possibly threaten Miami, it was decided that it was in the best interest of the event and especially the fans, if the event was put back by one week.”
Holder however reassured fans that all plans are in place for the event and that this is a postponement and not a cancellation: “The event is definitely still on and we expect a great weekend for both the players party and the exhibition game on September 1, 2012”.
