Shotokan expert to visit Barbados
International Shotokan Karate Federation Barbados will play host to 8th dan Shihan James Field from August 30 to September 1.
Sensei Field is no stranger to the Caribbean, he is Jamaican by birth, but has lived most of his life in the USA. He is the vice-chairman of the I.S.K.F. technical committee and his karate experience extends more than 48 years.
Field is one of the most senior and experienced American instructors.
With a very successful reputation and career as a competitor for many years, he has previously captained the USA International Karate Team.
He is a many times national collegiate champion, two-time national grand champion, two-time Pan- American champion and medallist in the 1976 World Tournament. As one of the first four Americans certified as JKA Instructors, Shihan Field has a lot of knowledge and his classes will cover all the aspects of Shotokan Karate.
With his fondness for Kumite (sparring) students can look forward to exposure to many ideas to help them in their development. Field’s training clinics will be open to all Shotokan Karatekas irrespective of affiliation
