Rebellion walking tour

Another opportunity is being provided for Barbadians to relive the 1937 Labour Rebellion — this time during a walking tour in Golden Square, Bridgetown, on September 8.

Members of the public who are interested in participating, which will run from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., should reserve spaces by contacting the Barbados Museum and Historical Society at telephone number 427-0201, or e-mailing

An official of the Museum explained that “participants will stand on the site that served as the epicentre of the rebellion”. They will also seek to trace the action that occurred in Bridgetown, with the final stop in Queen’s Park, where the Moyne Commission met.

Historian Henderson Carter, along with Kevin Farmer and Miguel Pena of the Barbados Museum, will lead the tour. (BGIS)
