Hockey Festival goes on despite showers
The Banks Hockey Festival continued into its third day today at Kensington Oval despite the constant threat and frequent downpours of rain.
In the first game, which was a mixture of male and female players, Rockets came up against A Bad Crew hockey team and thrashed them 9-0.
Rockets got the ball rolling ten minutes into play with Katrina Greaves opening the scoring for Rockets. A minute later Mark Murray
scored, giving them a two-goal lead. Corlette Kellman added to the goal count in the 15th minute and five minutes later Dario Lewis got his share of the feast.
When play resumed after the half- time break Rockets continued their dominance with Corlette Kellman finding the back of the goal. Greaves followed suit in the 27th and 35th minute.
Dale Walkes then got on the score sheet off a penalty corner and Greaves closed out Bad Crew’s “bad” morning with the final goal.
In other matches played, Do Bad Hockey Team defeated All Stars 5-0. Jamar Lashley scored two goals, while Chetwyn Henry, Aaron Forde and Shamika Haynes scored one goal each.
In the men’s action Axien from Germany played against Barbados Defence Force and prevailed 3-1 over the home side.
HPE Maple triumphed over All Stars 4-0. Revilino Simmons scored two field goals while Adrian Nicholls scored off a penalty corner and Roger Gibson scored a penalty shot.
University of the West Indies team and A Bad Connection played to a 0-0 draw. (ML)
