Greener grass NSC's goal

Francis Lopez

Personnel from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies and Sandy Lane Hotel have come together to assist the National Sports Council in upgrading five playing fields across Barbados in the first instance.

It was recognised that the grass currently in use at most of the National Sports Council’s grounds did not present an aesthetically pleasing sight to spectators nor did it stood up to regular “abuse” by players of the many sporting disciplines.

Senior officials of the National Sports Council had noted that the run-up to the bowlers’ crease was usually bare of grass and the area in front of the goal posts was also bare of grass. These muddy patches usually presented challenges to players during rainfall.
