Ellerslie forced to follow on

Combermere were in the ascendancy against Ellerslie at the Black Rock school’s ground today, at the close of the first day of their two-day encounter in the LIME Under-15 Cricket Tournament.†

Ellerslie won the toss and elected to field and Combermere made a workmanlike 183 for seven in 35 overs.

Tadious Chase had a good knock for his team scoring 47 while Shian Brathwaite scored 44 and Joshua Cook 39.†Janiel Skeete bowled seven overs to take four wickets for 43 runs, while Romario Griffith took two wickets for 25 runs for Ellerslie.†

In response, Ellerslie were only able to score 73 for eight in 35 overs with Kevin Thorne top scoring with 23 runs, while Kyle Scantlebury and Derrick Rock scored 12 runs each.†

Combermere’s spin bowler Renaldo Callender took two wickets for six runs in seven overs and team-mate Renacko Layne took two wickets for 13 runs in seven miserly overs.†

Combermere enforced the follow-on and, at the end of the day, Ellerslie were five without loss in the one over bowled.†

Harrison College and The Lodge School did battle at St John and, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, the home side scored 133 in 28 overs with Jarion Hoyte making 38 and Ondre Harewood 37 not out.†

Ross Hibbert took two wickets for seven runs in three overs and Zachary Knowles also took two wickets for 24 runs in five overs for Harrison College.††

In reply, the Crumpton Street boys made 129 for eight in 33 overs with Brandon Sealy scoring a measured, unbeaten 51.

Tresure Griffith captured three wickets for 26 runs in six overs and all-rounder Harewood was in on the action again, taking two wickets for 12 runs in his four overs.†

The match scheduled for today between the Garrison and Lester Vaughan will be played tomorrow at the YMPC ground. (ML)††
