Woman on gun charge remanded

A 27-year-old woman from Brittons Hill, St. Michael has been remanded to Dodds Prison until August 7, charged with possession of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

Maria Maleissa Moseley, of Villa Park, was arrested and charged for two offences, namely the unlawful possession of three firearms and the unlawful possession of 24 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector David Welch said that about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, Moseley went to the General Post Office to clear a consignment of foodstuff and personal items, in which the firearms and ammunition were allegedly found hidden among the items.

Moseley was arrested and appeared in District A Magistrate Court today.

Inspector Welch also reported that members of the Drug Squad yesterday seized 71 cannabis plants found growing in a busy area at Massiah Street, St. John.

No one was arrested in connection with the find, which ranged in height from 10 inches to six feet. (DS)
